We are pleased to announce the release of the ArcGIS Runtime SDK for OS X. This is a new SDK release for the Mac platform. Applications created with this SDK can either be installed or be distributed using the Apple Mac App Store.

Some of the features for that SDK are:

  • Display web maps that have been authored on www.ArcGIS.com or your own on-premise ArcGIS portals.
  • Mashup map services from ArcGIS Online and/or your own on-premise ArcGIS Server to create unique maps.
  • Display information about features in a map using popups
  • Search for features in a map using spatial or SQL criteria.
  • Execute sophisticated geoprocessing tasks and display their results.
  • Sketch points, lines and polygons on the map.
  • Match addresses to locations (geocode) and locations to addresses (reverse-geocode)
  • Perform geometric operations and compute spatial relationships between features.

We invite you to browse the documentation and participate in the forums. You can find documentation for the ArcGIS Runtime SDK for OS X here

Note: the ArcGIS Runtime SDK for OS X supports only OS X Mountain Lion 10.8. We look forward to your feedback. Download the ArcGIS Runtime SDK for OS X on the community beta page.

With the SDK, we are releasing a sample open source application the ArcGIS Runtime Preview, you can download the app here to install on your Mac and the source code here. The application was designed using inspiration from application like GitHub for Mac and Twitter for the Mac platform that include a left hand side menu for easy navigation.
